With the choice of a proper
dehydrating system one can assure the
preservation of each product's nutritive values:
taste, colour and smell. With the ORAKAS food dehydrator one
can dry garden produce as well as wild
vegetation: herbs and spices, tea leaves, roots,
berries, fruits, mushrooms. Also meat and fish.
|
| Drying time
depends on the properties of each product. The drying time for tea
leaves is 2-3 hours, for mushrooms and roots 3-7
hours and for berries and meat 10-30 hours.
Nutritive values
are best preserved when drying occurs quickly,
even though the temperature rises relatively
slowly and is at the end of the drying time only
50-60°C.

In tests made by
the Finnish Work Efficiency Association rose hips
dried with the Orakas dehydrator showed a vitamin
C loss of only 8.7%. (Look tables) In comparing the preserving costs of
10 kilos of carrots, drying proves to be a
cheaper way to preserve as energy is no longer
used once the drying is completed.Dried products
require little storage space.
